"From little Acorns great Oak trees grow"

Acorn is a voluntary community, charity Playgroup/Pre-school which caters for children from the age of 2 years up to rising 5.  At Acorn we aim to create a welcoming and secure environment where every child can have fun and reach their full potential.  All our workers are qualified experienced staff with children of their own and our leader is a qualified teacher.   Our motto is   “If a child can’t learn the way we teach then we will teach the way they can learn”.  The children at Acorn are encouraged to participate not only in all the activities on offer but also in some of the planning and decision making necessary for the day to day running of the setting.  Although not part of the Primary School in which we are based, we work closely with the Reception class, offering our children as many school experiences as possible in an effort to make the transition a smooth process for example playing outside with the Reception children, attending assemblies, using the school hall and P.E. equipment etc.  The emphasis is on play in both the Playgroup and the Pre-school but we also aim, in a gentle way to prepare our children for life in the ‘Big School’.  If our children are happy they will learn and this is, first and foremost, our objective, with the inevitable growing academic ability, a pleasing bonus.
Acorn offer a 20% discount for siblings who both attend Acorn.

Our hours are:
Playgroup – Every Morning 9.00am – 11.30am

Pre-school – Every Afternoon 12.30pm – 3.00pm
